Stéphane Coutelle is an established fine art and beauty photographer.

Born in Paris in 1962, he has led a rich and diversified career, always willing to reinvent himself and explore new grounds.

He shot fashion pictures and celebrity portraits in the 80's, became a painter of large, hypnotic portraits in the 90's, before coming back to photography and becoming a worldwide reference in beauty advertising photography and film making.  

Stéphane Coutelle has published five books : Me Myself and I in 1995, Shoebox Studio in 2012, Insomnies in 2014, CARBONE  in 2019 and 2020 in 2021. Insomnies’ pictures were exposed in Paris by ArtStudioK gallery in 2014, as part of Le Mois de la Photo program, then at Artcube Gallery in 2018.  New exhibitions took place in Paris when CARBONE and 2020 were released.

In 2019 Stéphane Coutelle created the publishing house and online gallery La Belle Étoile* with his life partner Barbara Moors.

Stephane Coutelle has a passion for portraits and a special eye for casting. 

The most beautiful women have posed for him, sometimes long before they became famous : Monica Bellucci, Laetitia Casta, Olga Kurylenko, Camille Razat, Camille Rowe, Elisa Sednaoui, Claudia Schiffer, Milla Jovovich, Marine Delterme, Natalia Vodianova, Guinevere Van Seenus...

You can not recognise Stéphane Coutelle’s pictures because of a specific visual signature, you can recognise them for their strength : little effects but a strong eye, the testimony of a special bond, the sign that a special encounter took place in the studio that day. 

Since 2019, he teaches portrait photography on special courses at Ecole des Gobelins in Paris.

In 2021, he started his first still life series : Les fleurs suppliciées.
